Austin No-Kill in Jeopardy: Weekend-Long Adoption Special

Dec 08, 2011
For the first time since February 2011, the Austin Animal Center (AAC) faces euthanizing dogs simply because there is not enough room to house them, as the City of Austin has seen a dramatic increase in the number of adult dogs turned in to the new shelter in East Austin.
While APA! now runs the old Town Lake Animal Shelter and we have taken 40 adult dogs from AAC over the last two weeks, both facilities have seen fewer adult dog adopters in recent weeks. To catch up with the increased intake, APA and AAC need to see a combined 100 dogs over four months old get adopted before next Monday.
To help save lives, we're hosting an adoption drive in conjunction with AAC starting today through Monday, December 12. Adoption fees will be $3.50 for all dogs over 35 pounds and all dogs over the age of 35 dog years (5 years of age) at all locations (don't forget our new Town Lake Animal Center adoption site!).
If you're looking to bring a new family member into your life for the holidays, now is the perfect time. Help keep Austin no-kill!
