He's doing well. For the first few days he couldn't even walk outside to go potty without falling over, he was so weak. He's still a little weak but full of tail wags and for the first time, yesterday he started following us all around the house and yard. He tires easily and takes lots of puppy naps. He's on antibiotics and anti diarrheal medications. Thanks to everyone who has donated! Just $175 more to go until we've covered the costs for his surgery and please remember, success in fund raising for our medical cases also allows us to feel comfortable pulling other dogs and cats with special needs.
We have a little puppy, aptly named Braveheart, who we did emergency surgery in the evening of February 9th.
A litter of 7 Chow/Aussie pups (about 11 weeks old) came to us from TLAC that day. TLAC called APA! because they thought the sick one had parvo and due to the contagious nature, the whole litter would have to be put down.
It turns out the little sick puppy had an obstructed intestine and needed emergency surgery to remove the deadened bowel. He was so bad off that he had an abdomen full of pus from perforated intestines (sorry for the grotesque details but we just want to explain the severity of it!). He made it through the night because Sara, the medtech, took him home. He even ate a little this morning! He needs a few more weeks of antibiotics and a foster home.
We'll need to raise $400 to cover the cost of his medications and surgery.
Use Braveheart's ChipIn to donate toward his treatment and allow us to continue to treat pups and kittens in need of extra medical care.
