Today at 11am, we are pulling the final 14 cats who were rescued from a hoarding situation about 2 weeks ago.
52 live cats were found in horrid conditions in an apartment in South Austin on September 16th, according to officials at Town Lake Animal Center. The Center has finished their cruelty investigation and is releasing the last 14 cats for “final disposition” which translates into euthanasia if Austin Pets Alive does not save them.
We already rescued three on September 22nd; other shelters and rescue groups have helped as well. The remaining 14 need to be removed from TLAC as soon as possible or they will likely be euthanized as soon as the cage space is needed for incoming cats at TLAC.
We are calling on the community to help us with these cats. Thanks to you, we have saved almost 3,000 pets from being killed in the last year. Now we need help with these 14.
We need adopters and fosters to help us keep these cats until they are adopted. If you are interested in adopting, please come to our building or email us at [email protected]. If you are interested in fostering, please fill out a foster application.
We also need donations to provide them with the necessary medical care prior to the adoptions. Almost all of the cats will need to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given medical treatment which will cost us about $100 per cat.
