Donna is a beautiful pure white fluffy 7wk old kitten. She was found by a good Samaritan who saw her being hit in the head with sticks by children, and brought her to the emergency clinic, where she was then taken to TLAC. She was unable to walk well due to the head trauma, falling over, not eating, and had a swollen head. She was also matted and covered in car oil, completely emaciated, and obviously abused and neglected for some time.
TLAC emailed APA! and told us we needed to get her out immediately or they would have to euthanize her due to her suffering. So APA! came to the rescue. We found her a perfect foster home, and had her checked out by the vet. The foster bathed her, brushed her fur and removed her matts and the car oil, fed and loved her. Astonishingly, within 24 hours Donna was already becoming more "normal", eating some on her own (though all she'll eat is ground chicken right now), and her walking improved 50%, and most of all she was purring and so happy to finally be somewhere she was loved.
Its been a few of days now and Donna is continuing to improve. She tries to play and seeks attention, and is walking fairly well though she still falls over sometimes. We are very hopeful that just given time and TLC Donna will continue to improve and hopefully some day will be a normal kitten who can run and play, and live comfortably in her forever home.
Donna is available for pre-adoption, please email [email protected] if you're interested, and we may also need a foster for her soon, email [email protected] if you'd be interested in fostering her until she is completely healthy.
We also need to raise the funds for Donna's medical care, please donate if you can to help Donna and other abused animals of Austin. Please remember that donating to one pet ensures that we will be able to pull other pets in situations similar to Donna.
