We at Austin Pets Alive! are sad to mourn the loss of volunteer Ann McGuffey, who died suddenly on February 8th. An 18-year old Westlake graduate and freshman at Texas Tech University, Ann became involved with APA through a Girl Scout project and volunteered much of her time fostering dogs and caring for puppies at adoption sites.
In these photos is Ann with mama, Sienna, and her ten puppies that Ann and her family saved by fostering them through APA!. Ann took an active role in helping Sienna raise all of her puppies and then worked to get all of them adopted to new, loving families of their own.
Ann was an avid athlete in school, competing in swimming, volleyball, basketball, and soccer, and was even involved with the school band, drama program, and student council. Austin Pets Alive! is lucky to have had Ann as a volunteer, and we are grateful that she chose to spend much of her time caring for the animals. She is truly a role model for other teens, and is dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, Ann's family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Austin Pets Alive!.
