Laura Williamson, long-time animal welfare advocate, Austin Pets Alive! supporter, and Policy Aide to Austin City Council Member Mike Martinez, recently lost her faithful companion Neiko.
Neiko (pronouced Nayko) was an affectionate, super gentle, and loving kitty who died on May 11, 2014. Neiko was a stray who probably ate bugs for the first year of her life, but she found her home when Laura discovered her howling in the bushes during a move.
Laura knew that Neiko was home when her other kitty, Caso began lovingly cleaning Neiko when she brought her home. Neiko could be shy when first meeting new people, but she loved intensely when she let you in her inner circle.
Neiko especially loved her companion, Laura. Neiko's favorite thing was to be held. She would mold or bend to whatever shape you folded her, and she would purr and gaze at her people friends with big eyes just because they were paying attention to her. Neiko also enjoyed sleeping on people's heads at nighttime, catching bugs, drinking water off her paws that she had dipped her water bowl, and following Laura wherever she went.
Neiko was full of love, and there will never be another kitty like her.
Your donation to Austin Pets Alive! in honor of Neiko will help pets find loving forever homes.
