Shamrock was a very misunderstood dog! He is a six year old Chihuahua that is diabetic and had vision loss due to cataracts. The cataracts were very likely caused by uncontrolled diabetes (from before his time with Austin Pets Alive!).
There were times in foster care that Shamrock was becoming bitey. We suspected during these times he was scared because he couldn't see. Normally cataract surgery is not something APA! has the luxury to treat because it is not painful and animals typically live comfortably without it. Since the associated vision loss was affecting Shamrock's behavior, at one point even putting him in bite quarantine, we had to do something! Thankfully Eye Care for Animals stepped in to help Shamrock. They were able to treat Shamrock's cataracts at no cost to APA!. Through the generosity of incredible supporters like Eye Care for Animals we are able to not only give Shamrock a better outlook on life but a better chance at a forever family.
Shamrock is still happily in foster care awaiting his forever home after his cataracts surgery. Do you have room in your home and heart for this special guy? Adopt Shamrock Today.
