Update on fire evacuees and Bastrop search and rescue

Adoption fees are half price today, September 7th. We are trying to pull as many pets from the animal control facilities who need homes, to make room at the animal control facilities for the strays that they are receiving from the fires.
We are NOT taking strays from the fires, only animals that were already the "property" of the animal controls before the emergency started.
Please help us out and adopt so we can continue to help out the other shelters.
Also, great news: Today, we finally got permission to enter the Bastrop neighborhoods to look for pets trapped in houses. Many of them have not eaten in almost 5 days. We are going in with Animal Control, who are going into the homes, taking the pets, then handing them over to us. We'll then transport them to the Friends for Life Emergency Response Van for treatment.
We're asking everyone who has a pet trapped in a house/on property in Bastrop to email us at [email protected] (email is preferred) or call us at (512) 961-6433.
We'll need: name, street address, whether the pet was inside or outside, how many, and if we have permission to access the home to get them out.
We've been blown away by how much the community is helping during the crisis. Thank you all so much! If you'd like to volunteer or donate, please follow us on Facebook to stay connected - the needs are changing often.
