You sent in your emails to city council. You sent us encouraging messages via email and Facebook. You signed up in favor of our extension. You showed up to City Hall sporting APA! gear at all hours of the day.
And at 11:30 last night, you helped Austin Pets Alive! secure a lease extension for Town Lake Animal Center beyond May 2015!
This is one more important step toward building our forever home. But we wouldn't be here if it weren't for your support and the support of a few key council members:
Special thank you to City Council Member and Mayoral Candidate, Mike Martinez, for sponsoring the item and once again demonstrating how critical you are for Keeping Austin No-Kill.
Thank you to Chris Riley and Laura Morrison for co-sponsoring the Item
Thank you to Kathie Tovo and Sheryl Cole for voting in favor.
Your belief in Keeping APA! in the Heart of Austin and Keeping Austin No-Kill got us one step closer to building our forever home on Lamar Beach.
So on behalf of the thousands of lives you helped save, thank you.
The next step is making crucial improvements to Town Lake Animal Center. The state had previously put the facility on probation due to the disrepair but this vote allows us to make TLAC a better place for people and animals alike while we arrange for a permanent building. Great companies like Radiant Plumbing have already given so much and other wonderful companies like Alpha Roofing have already stepped up to help out. We are incredibly fortunate to live in such a generous community with so much compassion and heart and we look forward to whipping this place into shape together.
Thank you to all. The thousands of dogs and cats for whom you just helped secure a future couldn't be happier.
We will keep you updated as we continue our journey to Keeping APA! in the Heart of Austin.
In the meantime, please take a moment to thank Mike Martinez: [email protected] for leading the charge on this item. If we had not been granted this extension, No-Kill would have been in serious jeopardy. The programs that save the most at risk lives are the ones housed at TLAC. He has shown, once again, that we can count on him to make sure that No-Kill is a priority. Please also send your thanks to Council Members Laura Morrison ([email protected]) and Chris Riley ([email protected]) for co-sponsoring the item. They have also been instrumental in No-Kill policy leadership.
Together, we're Keeping Austin No-Kill!
Sincerest Thanks,
Dr. Ellen Jefferson
